So there he was, sitting in a chair, tossing around a bullet-less gun in his hands, whistling softly as he tried to pass the time. He continued to toss the gun as he eyed the paperwork on the left side of his desk for a moment, before stretching back into his chair, catching the gun and placing it on the table. He leaned forward slowly, opening up the file on the top of the pile, once again stretching back into his chair as he hoisted his leg up onto the table, continuing to whistle as he scanned the multiple pages as quickly as he could. One thing about these files, they weren't exactly known for giving 'dot points.' Therefore, he found himself having to scrounge out the important information, from the information no one really gives a crap about, especially him. The case was about a girl who had been reported missing twenty-four hours earlier, by her worried parents. According to this, she had gone out to a party and then never returned home. Key friend witnesses stated that she went off with a mysterious guy who they had never seen before, and the stupid friends didn't even bother questioning where they were going. He sighed softly. It was cases like this he just wanted to fall onto the desk in pain of how utterly stupid so many people could be these days. If you have friends, you stick with them, not let them waltz off with 'I'm about to kill your friend' dude. Kids these days, really.
He tossed the paper on his desk, yawning quietly as he once again stretched, this time stretching his arms across the chair, also. It really had been a busy day; with an early start checking out a crime scene with Claire, where a young man was found shot dead in his own apartment, to the difficult decision of whether to have a marshmallow in the hot chocolate or not, to finding himself stuck in the office for the remainder of the day. So much excitement! So much drama! So much tension! His sarcasm couldn't be more evident even if he wanted it to be. He let out another sigh, this one more obvious and intentional, describing just the toll this day had taken on him so far. There were perks to being a detective, like going on those interesting cases, but there were also the negative aspects as well, like writing reports, reading files and checking his Facebook updates...Nah, he wasn't really doing that! But he would much prefer be out there making a difference, especially when he knew there was so much trouble happening in this big city every day and night, and him not being out there to at least make some kind of a difference was killing him.
The next big decision, was whether to go home and have a few beers, or go out to a local bar with some of the co-workers. It was always good to go out with others, but he also enjoyed kicking back at home with a few cold ones, sitting on the couch watching some documentary which was so boring, it put him to sleep by nine-thirty. Oh, now that was the life, wasn't it? This place really did take it out of him at times, and as much as he would like to blame the boring documentary for putting him to sleep, he knew he was just tired from all the work he did during the day. No amount of coffees could keep him awake, and no marshmallows in his hot chocolates were going to keep him satisfied longer than the few seconds it takes him to skull the drink down in enjoyment. He knew there was so much he didn't understand in this town, and he probably didn't want to understand a lot of the shit in this hole, but he also wanted to at least see the crime rates drop down, even if slightly. It was just at the stage where it was utterly ridiculous. There couldn't be this many criminals in the town, could there?
