OUTFIT
Claire’s eyes stared ahead of her past the bartenders walking behind the counter at the moving lights glowing behind the different types of alcohol up against the ice covered wall. Whiskey, Vodka, Rum, Gin, Tequila, and whatever else you could think of, all for customers who clearly wanted to get too drunk to even see straight anymore, which was actually where Claire was at the moment; in a bar watching the world move around her as her own drunkenness began to sink in. Claire had never been one to drink away her problems. Honestly she found it stupid for people to attempt to participate in such things. What was it for anyway? It wasn’t REALLY going to take away all the pain, stress, or sorrow you were feeling. If anything, it just made it worse. Instead of pushing those crazy thoughts out of your head, it would make your mind too hazy to push them out allowing them to sink in deeper than ever imagined. What she needed was a distraction to pull her mind away from the constant thoughts of her brother, her mom, her financial issues, and the screwed up life she was feeling lately. Not to mention a ride. And alcohol wasn’t doing either of those for her. Besides, what kind of detective would she be if she drove home drunk?
”I’ll take another, please,” Claire said lifting her now empty glass that once was filled to the rim with Applejack. The waiter nodded taking her glass from her. Claire let her arm drop as she sighed. She lifted her head and peered over her shoulder at the people conversing in the bar. It was definitely a good night to be out and about if you liked people. And Claire LOVED people. But Claire was a bit worried that if she did start to talk to someone in a real conversation that actually made her use her brain, she wasn’t so sure if what would come out of her mouth would make much sense.
The bartender was back rather quickly, setting the new full glass of Applejack in front of Claire. ”Thank you, thank you,” Claire said lifting the glass to her lips. She downed a rather large swig and set the glass back down with a small smile. ”Best drink in the world, really. Almost 110% positive it’s because of the apple pucker.” She managed to say to no one in particular. Maybe she was just testing her ability to be coherent enough to speak and be understood. It sounded like she could possibly be understandable. But then of course, she was the one who was tipsy. How on earth would she know how she REALLY sounded?

[/div] to begin, [/IMG][/div] The girl next to her was doing a damn good job of getting hammered. She remembered a line from a movie and resisted saying it, "Seems like you're doing alright so far. I'm partial to jack and coke myself." as she indicated her glass and smiled at the drunk woman. "I am new in town. Is it really so bad you need a drink?" she asked casually as she turned to regard the other woman. She'd been nursing the jack and coke for a while now but these kinds of places were where vamps loved to hang out and find a drunk meal.
This girl was shaping up to become one of those if she wasn't careful. Yuki sighed and pushed aside the negative thoughts that booze brought. She should have known better anyway. She didn't have the luxury of getting buzzed when there were so many people who were in danger. She'd learned that the hard way when her sister had died. She took a deeper sip of her drink and felt it burn a path to her belly. She pinched her nose and exhaled, "Rough night?" she asked as a way of making conversation.

Claire’s eyes flickered up from her Applejack to see who had responded to her comment. Her head felt like it was floating in a sea of liquor as she caught sight of the woman sitting next to her whom she had clearly been too spacey to notice. She could not fully focus on her, but what she was able to focus on made Claire wish she had not surpassed the tipsy stage of her drunken night just yet. Her skin was a shiny olive color, her hair long, dark, and straightened, her outfit so tight trailing down every hidden angle. How could she not have noticed her!
The small smile that had been on her face since the woman explained that she preferred Jack and Coke left her once the woman asked Claire if things were truly bad enough for her to need to drink. Claire’s eyes fell back down to her drink as she sniffled, lifting the glass to take another swig. To Claire, right now anything was better than the shit she was dealing with. If she could just shut off her emotions for a while, maybe become numb to the world like her partner Jake so drunkenly put it, it wouldn’t be so bad. Claire could at least try. She set the glass down staring ahead of her again at the pretty lights bouncing off of the iced beverage wall that consistently seemed to be distracting her. ”I guess it depends on your definition of bad,” she said rather roughly. She didn’t mean for it to come out so spitefully, but it had.
Claire sighed shaking her head as she moved her eyes back to the woman. ”I’m sorry. It’s been more like a rough four years actually.” Claire lifted her hand and extended it out towards the woman. ”I’m De….uh Claire.” Claire smiled as she decided not to let the woman know she was indeed a detective completely intoxicated in the infamous ice bar. Not like it mattered really. She was pretty sure everyone in there knew she was a cop. She came here dozens of times to drive Jake home after he’d had a bit too much fun. ”Welcome to LA.” Claire picked up her glass again and downed the rest of the drink. Maybe she should call it quits. She had way too many, and she already knew most of her insides were going to be all over her bathroom floor once she found her way home. Hell, they might be all over this woman if she didn’t stop soon. Setting the now empty glass back down, she gave the woman a soft smile. ”So, why LA anyway? You do know that there are over 100,000 crimes committed every year here? And that is not including the shit that we aren’t told about.”

[/div] to begin, [/IMG][/div] "Four years? Damn, I'd say you're due a drink then." she said with a slight smile as she offered her hand, "Yuki Akiyama Private Detective at your service." she said as she eyed the other woman carefully.
"Thanks for the welcome. I figured L.A. Was as far away as I could get from my old stomping grounds. My sister died and I just couldn't handle the sad looks, bad casseroles and whispers behind hands any more. Decided a change of scene was in order." she said as she sipped her drink a bit more and regarded the very drunk woman next to her. She'd have to keep her reflexes sharp if she didn't want to get vommed on. This girl had been knocking a few back before Yuki arrived if she was any judge from the smell of alcohol.
She stretched and relaxed. The one nice thing about being new in town was it gave you something to talk about. Plus she had her license so it made it easier to hunt and not get suspecious looks if she went about town to a variety of areas.
