First day of her last year, her senior year, at UCLA. Just 168 days until salvation. Until she got to leave this hell hole of a city, and start her life as a physicist somewhere at a well renowned university where she could get her master’s degree and begin teaching students how to succeed in their own lives. Tahlia was so close that she could almost taste her own success now. All she had to do was get through these few classes that she had left to go towards her physics major, and then she’d be all set. Of course she left the easy classes for last, Biology 2 being one of them….so she thought. But knowing her, she had gotten to class 25 minutes early, and she had eavesdropped on a few students discussing the requirements for this semester in Bio 1120. In Bio 1110, she had found it strange that she hadn’t had to dissect anything. Most of that biology course had been an introductory class to prepare a student for the body systems. Apparently, this whole second half of biology was designed to actually put the knowledge of the systems to the test by dissecting different animals. If the girls that had been chattering about it were correct in their assumptions of the make-up of the class, Tahlia was indeed screwed, unless she had been paired with a sympathetic partner who understood her need to not aid in the slaughter of poor defenseless animals.
Luckily today was not a dissection day. Their job in lab today was to look at slides and decide what type of system each slide resembled. Easy enough. But still, she was not happy with the instructor’s decision to pair students up for lab partners instead of letting them pick on their own. Not like that would have made a difference really. Tahlia already knew that she had no friends in the class. But when the instructor called her name and paired her up with Levi Wolfe, her mood had somewhat changed from anxious to slightly less anxious. At least she knew him. Well, knew of him sort of. She had only seen him a few times really in passing, and that had only been because she was best friends with his brother Jerry. But Levi only came up sometimes in conversation, and what she knew of him was not enough to form any opinion. She just hoped that he would pull his own weight through this semester.
Here Tahlia sat at the lab table she had chosen for them, waiting for Levi to join her so they could start the lab. It would be a quick one; she knew that for sure. She had memorized the body systems over the summer, so pinpointing them through a few slides was going to be a piece of cake.

The most annoying thing about new classes was the fact that he didn't know anyone in the class. Granted, Levi could talk the leg off a wooden table for sure, but it was slightly awkward when you don't know anything about the other person and therefore how they would act. He usually just felt comfortable in being himself and not trying to be something his not; if someone is going to like him, he wants it to be for who he is, not someone his not which would come back to bite him on the behind later on. He was generally easy going; he was simple, really. He didn't cause conflict with anyone unless they provoked him, so other than that he was more than open to being friendly to whoever it was he was meeting in this class, if he even met anyone. But then the teacher proved that he would be meeting people and he sighed softly, listening as the teachers read out the names. He would be paired with someone, and they would be figuring out the bodysystems over a few slides. Sounds easy enough?
He was announced as being partnered with Tahlia Morrison, who he didn't know but felt like he had seen her around the campus before. He got out of his seat, deciding it was gentlemen like to go over to where she was sitting. He smiled softly as he looked at her, placing his books on the table next to her and sat down. "I'm gonna take a wild guess and say your Tahlia?" He chuckled softy, fiddling with his books momentarily, before looking up at Tahlia. "I was hoping for something more interesting today, I guess that's too much to expect from first class though, right?" He grinned softly, putting his head down as he opened up one of his books, flicking through the pages almost in boredom before looking up at the teacher as he set up the slides on the projector screen in front of the class, detailing some images of different body systems. He eyed the first one for a moment. "Lymphatic system." He wrote it down on one of the pages in his book, not even glancing at Tahlia to check if the answer was correct or anything. He glanced up at her, a soft expression on her face. "Do you want to take it in turns, otherwise I can just jot them all down, I'm cool either way." He begun sketching in the corner of his page, trying to buy the time as this would probably take them like five seconds.

Tahlia peered around the lab seeing her fellow students already coming together and conversing with their chosen lab partners about the lab that was due in just two hours. Textbooks were placed on the lab table in front of her as well as someone sitting on the stool next to her. This movement startled her slightly, and her eyes moved from the rest of the biology class to the person now smiling at her. Words left his mouth. She knew they had. And maybe she could even understand them a little, but she could not respond just yet. His smile was far too distracting. And the way he would smirk, look away, and then look back at her. Was he really related to Jer? Not that Jericho Wolfe wasn’t attractive, but she had never found herself thinking of him at all in any other way than a really really really close friend. Tahlia quickly shook off her wandering thoughts and responded before he thought something was seriously wrong with her. ”Oh, uh, yes!” She said with a bit too much excitement clearly in her voice. Calm, Lia, calm, she thought closing her eyes and shaking her head slightly. She turned a small portion in her chair to face him. ”I mean, yes. I’m Tahlia.” She responded nervously.
Tahlia loved learning about the bodily systems. And of course it was not dissection, so it was interesting to her. So, when Levi mentioned that he was hoping for something more interesting for the first class period, Lia had to interject. It was more instinct than anything else. She really couldn’t help it. ”Well, actually the systems can be pretty fascinating. Did you know that the endocrine system has like no ducts what so ever. So, when the hormones are excreted, they go right into the….” Tahlia looked up at him realizing how extremely nerdy she probably sounded. ”….the bloodstream,” She finished sliding back to face the table in front of her. ”Anyway,” she continued feeling her cheeks warm with embarrassment. ”We should probably get started.” Shoot me now, she thought.
Tahlia had been extremely surprised when Levi seemed to take over completely with the lab, answering the first question and answering it correctly! She couldn’t believe it. Had she really finally been assigned a lab partner that A. knew what the hell they were doing and B. actually participated and didn’t expect her to do everything? It looked like it. She could not help the awe that obviously had been registering on her face. ”Uh, yeah, let’s take turns,” Tahlia agreed. She worked the microscope taking the lymphatic slide out and carefully placing the next one in. She moved closer to the microscope to peer in revealing the integumentary system. ”Ha! Integumentary system!” she said with a smile pulling away to jot it into number 2’s blank line. She flashed him a gaze deciding that since they were obviously going to be lab partners for the rest of the semester, maybe it would be best for her to be a bit social now. ”So, you are Jericho’s brother right?” She knew he had to be. She had seen him before, but Jericho had never introduced the two of them. He probably didn’t feel the need to. It wasn’t like Tahlia was the best one to meet random people. All she could usually muster in those cases was a smile and a possible handshake.

He chuckled as Tahlia nervously, yet also enthusiastically announced her name. For a moment there, she seemed like she was in her own little world. It was cute, honestly. Tahlia was a beautiful girl, and she seemed sweet and innocent, which was also refreshing with all of the crap and people he has dealt with over the years. Maybe it was also the fact that he wasn't innocent anymore himself. Not just because of things related to the supernatural, but because of who he was in the past and the mistakes he had made which not only hurt himself but others around him. He didn't want to be that kind of person anymore; he now had to be responsible, because he had brothers who would break his balls if he wasn't, and because of all the supernatural stuff happening. If he made a mistake, an innocent could be caught in the crossfire and injured or killed. That was something he never wanted to have to endure.
He listened on with a grin as Tahlia became somewhat invested in the whole endocrine system, giving him a speech on how interesting it was. "Well, how can someone not be interested in the endocrine system after hearing that?" He giggled briefly, before moving the slide over to Tahlia to have a glance in for the next one as she agreed in taking it in turns. She soon correctly answered what the slide was, and he smiled softly, looking down as she begun writing it on the sheet. It was good he was paired with someone like her. She seemed like the type who really nailed down on her work and knew her content. He knew the content, but was lazy with nailing down on all of the work. It was a shame really. He had been told he was a bright student, he was just lazy, something he knew all too well. And now he had excuses. He was a uni student, co owner of Inferno and a vampire hunter by night...And a badass one too! At least he had been told. Juggling all of this plus a non-existent social life was difficult.
He was caught off guard when she asked rhetorically that he was Jericho's brother. He looked at her curiously, a slight smile forming. "Yeah...Did the last name give it away? Or was it the fact that I get my good looks from him? He laughed softly for a moment, before looking into the next slide. "Reproductive System," he stated confidently as he jotted it down in the allocated space on the paper. He looked back up at Tahlia. "You and Jerry must be friends then, huh?" He asked, not taking his gaze off of Tahlia for that moment. It was actually astonishing how many friends Jerry seemed to have. Wasn't he the Mr popular Levi knew knew about? "That's good...His a pretty cool guy I guess." He was being modest, really.

Tahlia had actually made him smile from her rant about the endocrine system, even if his slight interest WAS only sarcasm. God, can you just stop smiling. Every single time he smiled, it made Tahlia want to smile or giggle or just throw her arms around his neck and kiss him all over. WHAT! Tahlia really just had to stop thinking. It was clear that her constant anti-social kick and male deprivation had been taking its toll on the poor little over achiever. It was good that he was funny though. It allowed Tahlia to help her focus on something concrete to think about which was the comparison between her best friend and her best friend’s brother. They were obviously both comical. And in a way, they did look somewhat similar, but Tahlia could not agree that Jericho was attractive. It would just be too weird. Granted she was sure that anyone would find him cute. Hell, Gloria Gibbs, her truest of the true competition, wanted to rock his socks all the way off. But Tahlia could never date Jericho. He was too…..well gay. Not to mention dating was sooooo not her thing. But she still found herself freaking out any time she came in contact with someone attractive of the opposite sex. She was just THAT unfortunate. ”Oh no it was just the last name,” she said with a nod being very definite with her answer. Of course it hadn’t registered to her that what she had said might have been taken as an insult to Levi about his own looks. She gasped. ”Oh, not that you aren’t attractive. You are very nice to look at….I mean, not that I’m looking…..well, I kind of have to look at you because you are my partner….but not that I’d have a problem looking at you either I just….” Tahlia desperately stumbled through her words trying to find the right ones to just completely end this very awkward conversation.
But her rambling came to a halt when he said the word reproductive. ”What?” Tahlia’s eyes shot his way. It had only taken her a few seconds to realize that he was talking about the next slide. ”Right, reproductive system. Of course.” She quickly wrote it down on her lab sheet. Thank god he had changed the subject. She wasn’t sure if she’d ever be able to recover from that one. ”Oh, yeah. We are pretty close. He’s a lot of fun. We actually just went to the LA Historical Museum. They are hosting this fabulous new exhibit on werewolf legends and the history of the occult. Pretty fun stuff.” she said with a nod. ”And I am talking way too much aren’t I?” She laughed softly knowing full well she had just been far too talkative. That was what happened though when she got nervous. She babbled and babbled and babbled. She could actually ask him about the trinity brothers as she already knew as much as Jericho knew about it, but this wasn’t the time or place, even though her mind was full of little questions she wanted to ask. Each brother probably dealt with the change differently. And Tahlia being a curious person, it was only natural for her to want to delve into how Levi dealt with it. The only problem was, did Levi even know that Tahlia knew about their secret? Tahlia was guessing no seeing as though he didn’t even know her to begin with.
Tahlia leaned in taking out the reproductive slide and grabbing for yet another one. She slid the piece of glass into place glancing through the lens. Pulling away, she moved her long red hair behind her ear and wrote lymphatic on her lab sheet. ”It’s lymphatic again.”

He giggled softly as she spoke nervously, confusing her words and seemingly herself as well. She was an awkward girl, that was evident. But there was something behind that awkwardness that he really did like and made him interested in getting to know her more. Maybe he was just trying to be friendly to a different type of person, which was probably a good thing for him. "Its okay, I get it. I'm nice looking, we're lab partners, we look at each other. Its all good. He shook his head, continuing to grin at the girl, even as she became clueless for a moment when he answered what the body system on the slide was, before finally getting on about what he was referring to. She made him laugh, that was a good thing. He wasn't really psyched when being around boring people; if he was in their company, he usually tried to shift the mood or make them exciting somehow, if that was even possible. Luckily though, Tahlia didn't appear to be the boring type so hopefully the two of them would get along nicely. It would be nice to have a smart lab partner who he is actually friends with.
He grinned as she spoke of his brother. "Wait, what? A lot of fun? Huh? Are we talking about the same guy, here?" He chuckled, throwing a tease at his older brother. He loved Jerry more than anything, but a lot of the time, teasing was his way of showing affection not only towards him but towards other people also. She then spoke of some museum they were going to about the history of werewolves, and he raised a brow softly. "Of course Jerry wants to go to something like that..." He spoke softly, shaking his head momentarily. It was good that Jerry wanted to go off and learn about werewolves, but really? It was kind of throwing himself out there in a way wasn't it? What if others learned about it and put two and two together in regards to Jerry, and the three of them? They had to be cautious, which coming from Levi was laughable, but it was also true.
He smiled as she stated the answer, and watched as she jotted it down momentarily, before looking around the room, slightly smirking at some in the class who were seemingly struggling, or arguing with their partner about what the answer was. Didn't the two of them have it good today? He turned back to Tahlia, smile still in tact, as he quickly glanced into the slide. "Skeletal system. What are you doing after class, wanna go grab a bite or something? All this biology talk is making me starving." He giggled softly.

Tahlia giggled when Levi Wolfe mocked his brother Jerry. ”He’s not that bad. Really. I promise.” Of course she was just playing along with Levi. Jerry was way more than fun. He was a blast actually. Too much fun for Tahlia really. Out of the friends that she did have, Jerry was the only one that seemed to convince her to get out and actually do something with her life other than sit down with a boring textbook and homemade study guides. He knew all the gossip, and although she was never one to focus on that kind of stuff, he would get so theatrical and dramatic about it that it was rather entertaining for her. In fact, maybe that was why she found him so much fun; he was always entertaining her, making her laugh, making here want to be goofy just like him.
Tahlia watched as his smile faded slightly as she mentioned the museum. She did not at all except the reaction that she had gotten from him. He seemed someone agitated by this newfound discovery of where his brother had gone. Was he not supposed to go? Was she not supposed to say anything? ”Well, it was actually a mutual idea. All those legends are like my thing.” Tahlia tried her best to make it sound like it hadn’t been just Jerry’s decision to go to the event at the museum. Clearly Levi was not happy about it which Tahlia did not understand. If anything she thought that he’d be pleased that his brother was trying to delve deeper into the understanding behind the wolf curse that all three brothers secretly shared. She wished she could just ask him why it bothered him so, but he would probably be quite peeved if he knew that Jericho had actually told someone about the curse held over the brotherhood, even if it had been his best friend.
Tahlia was silent as she fidgeted with the pencil she held in her hand tapping it lightly on the table. It wasn’t like it really mattered. The conversation had already become awkward when she practically confessed her attraction towards him. Why not add a bit more awkwardness to the mix?! But out of the corner of her eye, she could see that his smile had returned as he glanced back into the microscope and announced the next slide description. Tahlia nodded jotting down the next known system. Just as she let her mechanical pencil glide across the paper, Levi asked her to accompany him for lunch later after class. The unexpected invitation caused her to push a bit too hard on the tip of her pencil making it break off. Tahlia swallowed hard. Was he asking her out on a date? Because Tahlia didn’t date. Just the thought made her uncomfortable. Or was this a friendly lunch for the new friendly lab partners? Yeah, it has to be that, she thought as she glanced his way. But would it really be so bad if it was a date? A date with Levi Wolfe. How would she have managed that? Wasn’t he sort of….popular around campus? Or at least known? No. No. No. It was best if she just declined just in case he did think for some reason that it was a date that she was agreeing to instead of a friendly get together. Tahlia had every intension of politely telling him no thank you, but as she stared at him, the only words that were screaming in her head were ‘do it, do it’. Say something, Lia! ”Uh….um,” What was that thing that her roommate would always randomly say right before she would do something extremely stupid? Oh right, YOLO. She sighed letting a soft smile spread across her face as she bit her lower lip. ”That would be the digestive system,” she said referring to the lunch she was about to agree to, ”And sure, I’d love to.” Oh Tahlia, what are you doing?
