With a soft grunt, Tahlia Morrison lifted her Quantam Mechanics I and Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory, and Statistical Mechanics I books off of the tutoring desk that she had become so familiar with over the past two years and slid them into her neon pink book bag. It was 4 o’clock p.m. on a Friday afternoon, and she had far too much homework to work through tonight to be taking her time packing up and heading back to the University dorm room. Part of her had known that agreeing to the few hour tutoring sessions a week would be too much for her to agree to especially with the amount of classes she was taking for her senior year, but that had never stopped her before. Besides, helping high school students understand the difference between a derivative and a differential was actually kind of fun for Lia; that is if she didn’t have to deal with students who were only utilizing the tutoring services because it was a requirement to pass the specific course. That just made her shift a constant hour or two of pure torture.
Today the torture hadn’t been too bad. She had only worked with one student consistently for the whole two hours, and it had only been off and on when the student actually needed help with a problem. It was the type of student who desperately needed the help and knew that Tahlia wasn’t there to do it for him. Now those students she could see all day every day. At least then she wouldn’t have to keep pushing the pencil towards him and telling him that he should use it which she found herself doing more often than not.
Tahlia heaved the now zipped up backpack onto her back. No minute of her day was taken lightly. In fact, every single minute counted; hence the reason for her letting her textbooks tag along with her to her job. Sometimes, she didn’t have any students. When that happened, the spare time would be used for homework in hopes of getting slightly ahead. Yeah, like that ever happens, she thought as she flicked the light in the tutoring room off and closed the door behind her. The janitor would usually come in shortly after her and lock it which was perfectly fine. The less she had to remember doing, the better off she would be. There was only so much a brainiac like her could keep up in her noggin, and she was almost positive she was bordering on completely crowded.
Lia walked the empty maze of hallways. The high school classes ended at 3 o’clock p.m., so the only people that were ever really around once she got out of tutoring were busy teachers planning for the next day’s lessons, custodians to help clean the mess that the brat students made of the place, and the athletes or social butterflies of the school who were on teams or participating in after school functions all of which just reminded her of how so not into high school she really was. Maybe that was because she never got to do all the fun stuff. She was more pre-occupied with maintaining her grades and perfect attendance and oh yeah, being a complete teacher’s pet….well that was what people had thought of her. Apparently if you asked a lot of questions, participated in discussions, and turned in all your homework on time that was what you were labeled. What a shame, Lia thought sarcastically as she turned her last corner on her way out of the building. Tahlia was not at all expecting someone to be making her way around the corner at the same time that she had been. Tahlia’s chest smacked right into the girl’s as she cut the corner. The force was powerful enough to make Lia stumble back. If she had had anything in her hands, the contents would have been all over the tile. ”Ahhh, I’m so sorry! I really didn’t think anyone else was around.” She laughed softly looking at the young girl.

500Xwhatever you like image here [/img] Ariel was rocking the Lolita look today, dancing to her ipod, and legitimately acting like a sixteen year old girl. You wouldn't know she was a killer with how she swayed her hips to the music and danced down the halls. The one thing that might have stood out was how perfect her moves were. Her supernatural grace allowing her to move in ways that most high school girls just couldn't unless they had been born with ballet shoes on their feet.
Needless to say when a girl did a boob bounce into her she was surprised. She took a moment to catch herself and beamed. The music in her ears was actually calming her down and soothing her. The fit she'd had in Bloodlust has helped relieve the tension that had built up inside her. "Oh hi!!" she said happily, dancing in place to the music. One ear bud dangling down as she swayed to Lady Marmalade. "My name's Ariel." she said happily.
She looked over at the other girl and beamed, "Your hair is pretty! I love the color." this was said with a slightly distracted tone. She began to realize she might be a touch too hyper and shut down the music. Ariel was an oddity. She walked around with a bag and shoes that were worth more than most people made in a month but then she would wear a dress that looked like it was a fortune but had been bought for a steal. Shopping, it was one of the few things that she insisted on paying for when she did it. Trent might get things for free but she felt as part of the ruling class they needed to pay the peasants.
The red bow she wore stood out against her black hair as she slowed down and settled quietly to listen to the other woman. Her attention taken by the pretty genius. She looked like a doll and Ariel loved dolls. Maybe, if the girl was nice and liked her, she could have her as a sort of friend to make her more "legit" in the area. It helped if a few people knew you because it made people let their guard down and she could hunt easier. Tahlia never thought walking into someone could be so pleasant, but the girl she had plowed into was a unique looking thing with her adorable red and black leopard print fluff dress and red bow to match stuffed up into her dark curls. She was a vision really, an animated one at that. Lia watched as the girl spoke to her, introducing herself as Ariel. It was actually a bit difficult for Tahlia to stay focused on anything by the swaying of the girl’s body as she seemed to be jiving to the moves of the song she had been listening to. Tahlia could hear the song from the loud music coming out of the buds, but it did not at all ring a bell. She would have asked about it, but the girl was far too enthusiastic about the music from just hearing it. Tahlia couldn’t imagine actually discussing it with the girl.
Just as the name finally registered to Lia, she gave the girl a smile which unintentionally seemed to match the girl’s own happy grin. ”Like the Little Mermaid?!” It was a rather dumb comment most likely, but it had been the first thing to come to Lia’s mind when she heard the name Ariel. And it was Disney! She couldn’t help it! ”I’m Tahlia,” she said introducing herself now. ”And unfortunately my name was not yet used in a Disney movie.” Tahlia kept smiling. Oh god, stop acting goofy, she thought. Why did every single social encounter she have end up with her feeling like a complete idiot? It was just a proven fact that Tahlia felt uncomfortable around people who seemed much more outgoing than her which this girl expressed greatly.
Tahlia could see the girl’s eyes wander to her head, and at first she thought that maybe there had been something sticking out of it. It made her rethink her schedule this morning. Had she made time to brush her hair this morning? She immediately felt the urge to bring her hand up to her head but refrained as the girl complimented her on the color of her hair. ”Oh! Thank you. It’s natural. I am so against dying the hair. It is horrible for it for one, and two, it is chemicals that are just not at all good for the scalp.” she smiled at Ariel. And the awkwardness keeps on comin’, she thought as she watched the girl. She had no idea if Ariel knew anything about hair dye or if she had ever dyed her own hair before, but there had been no need to actually bring hair dye into a conversation with something that she had just met. How did that at all make any sense? It didn’t.
Tahlia decided that maybe it was best to go onto a more neutral and situation fitting topic. She cleared her throat and began. ”So, are you in any after school activities or something? Is that why you are here later? I just work at the tutoring center down the hall a ways. Science and Math.”

500Xwhatever you like image here [/img] She should have expected the Little Mermaid joke. She'd only heard it being used on babies from 1989 on. She was supposed to be 16 which meant she was born in 1996 and therefore old enough to have been named by some twenty-something with visions of a handsome prince. She hated that she had to share her name with that simpering moron. If she had done half those things her father would have had her whipped for disobedience. Even today if she wandered too far from Trent he could punish her. It was his right to do so and she had never questioned it.
Modern society aside, Ariel could play the part of an independent woman because she gathered strength from her relationship with Trent and knew the boundaries. The reality was she was a broken creature and she knew it. She needed Trent desperately to keep things balanced within her. The problem was that her demon didn't want to merge with her. The demon wanted to be in control and felt that any submissiveness was pathetic and a source of shame; So periodically it broke out and lose because it was sick of kowtowing to Trenton. It was a quirky thing, her demon hated how Trent treated her, but had this obsessive need to be near him so while it broke free and took over it never lashed out at HIM. Just at those around them.
The sane bit of Ariel knew that Samantha had made Trent hate uppity bitches and instinctively knew she should never be that to him ever. It was a hard line she walked. Being independent enough to be on her own, but needy enough so he felt he was doing his duty. It was no small wonder she was insane.
"Oh no! I look nothing like her. You look more like her than I do." she giggled as she regarded the other woman and shifted back and forth, "I was named after the Sprite in the Tempest by Shakespeare. My mother loved that play the best out of all of his works." she said happily. She hummed softly and moved with a slow grace.
"Hair dye makes me vom." she announced as she wrinkled her nose disdainfully, "Trent would never let me do such a thing to my hair. It would smell too bad and feel too dry and he wouldn't play with it then." she got a romantic smile on her face as she spoke of her husband that bordered on the erotic, "I love looking my best for him. We're going to get married some day." she added as an afterthought. She had to keep up the act. She turned in a circle that made her dress swirl out around her but kept her modest, "We're going to have a reception with red roses and pink champagne and there will be beautiful music." she said in a dreamy voice, "He promised me after we graduate school."
She looked at Tahlia, "So who is your Disney Prince? You probably have several you're so pretty!" she said as she held her hands together and listened with rapt attention, "And if you don't we'll find you some. It will be wonderful! We can go shopping and buy dresses and Trenton can escort us of course so we're safe and people don't take liberties..." she paused and then realized she hadn't asked her if she wanted to, "If you want to that is...I get so excited I forget to ask sometimes and its rude. I'm sorry." her eyes got wide and sad at the thought that her new pet might not want to go with her. She would just die if she said no. It would crush Ariel's soul.
You want to go with me. Say yes...it will be fun. she mentally whispered as she tried to use her mind melding gift on the girl if a yes wasn't forth coming of its own volition. She would try and make it seem like it was Tahlia's own thoughts coming up with the idea.
"I promise we won't stay too late. Trent and I have to be nocturnal because I break out in hives if I get too much sun. Its a melatonine reaction I inherited. Trent's eyes are sensitive to the sun too and its how we met. Its why we work so well together." she explained. "I'm waiting for Trent to come get me. He should be here in a bit." she said as she smiled at her. "Sometimes he has to run errands before he picks me up." WORDS: 943 TAGGED: Tahlia OUTFIT: Link Here NOTES: Any words? Tahlia pursed her lips and nodded as the girl retorted that she looked nothing like Ariel and that she was named after the Ariel from a Shakespeare play which fortunately Tahlia knew nothing about. English, especially Shakespeare, was not at all her fortay. But it was true. Although the girl was gorgeous which was definitely Disney Ariel all the way, the girl was missing the signature hair, the big boobs, and not to mention the fin. There HAD to be a fin. But Tahlia didn’t look much like Ariel either really except for the hair of course which even then was much lighter than Disney Ariel. But Tahlia took it as a compliment. Ariel was her favorite Disney character to pretend to be when she was growing up. She and Toby would go for a dip in the pool in the backyard, and she would always be Ariel while he would pretend to be Sebastian and tell her what to do. That specific memory made her feel sad and happy both at the same time.
That feeling left her completely though becoming nausea as Ariel mentioned that hair dye made her ‘vom’. Just the thought of vomiting made Lia feel the queasiness, a weakness she could not at all avoid ever. The girl continued talking about a guy named Trent. ”Oh your da…” Tahlia hesitated and cut herself off shaking her head as the girl continued and mentioned that this Trent guy wouldn’t play with it if she got her hair dyed. ”….boyfriend! She recovered with a nod. Please, please, please be talking about your boyfriend, she thought. Of course the girl hadn’t been talking about her dad. But it sounded like it from the beginning. Tahlia was used to her father telling her she couldn’t do things. It wasn’t THAT much of a misunderstanding really. ”Oh wow, married, huh?” Tahlia watched as the girl looked elsewhere as if she were in a dreamlike state. Oh yes, definitely not daddy. But even as that realization took over, Tahlia had a hard time fathoming that this girl even knew who the hell she was going to be ‘marrying’. She looked to be no older than 16. How did she know at all what love was or knew what she would be getting herself into if she did end up getting involved seriously with someone. That whole situation was something Lia never thought about in fear that it would just get in the way of what she really wanted out of life….or what others wanted for her. But this girl had everything planned out. Right down to the damn pink champagne.
Tahlia had gotten so caught up in her own thoughts that she hadn’t realized the girl had finally stopped talking and had asked her a question. ”Oh! Prince!” Lia said averting her eyes for a few seconds to come up with the words to say. But Lia didn’t even have time to answer before the girl kept on going with the words. Just listening to Ariel was overwhelming. So….much….TALKING! She had never met someone so talkative. Maxi was her own breed of talkative, but this girl surpassed that. She was like 20 Maxipads all combined and chattering at the same exact time. That was how Tahlia felt at this very moment. Lia was so absorbed by this girl’s personality that she couldn’t even fumble through her own words.
Finally! The girl had stopped talking for a few seconds as she apologized for being so excited. Tahlia took the opportunity to throw a few words in there….maybe phrases or even sentences if Ariel would let her. ”No, no, no, don’t be sorry,” Lies! she thought smiling. ”Oh, thank you, but yeah…..I don’t have one actually. A prince I mean. And I don’t want one thank you.” She declined as politely as possible. And she would have declined the invitation to go shopping as well if she hadn’t gotten the inkling that she actually wanted to go. When people asked her to go out and do things with them, most of the time the conversation would end with them rolling their eyes and saying ‘fine, go have fun with your textbooks’. But maybe it was those puppy dog eyes, or her crack in her sweet little voice that made Tahlia just want to go hang out with her. ”Um….okay.” Tahlia nodded with a smile. ”Yeah, it will be fun.” It will so not be fun, she thought as she continued watching the girl as she began talking AGAIN. She was so not a shopper. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that everyone in the stores were rude and did not at all realize that the store was not just a space for them. There were others occupying the same exact area, and they needed to learn how to share. She hated squeezing through those racks of clothing and getting her own clothing caught and snagged by them.
”Wait, we are going now?!” Tahlia asked. She really hoped not. She had a quiz to study for, and she needed to be prepared for lecture tomorrow so she could ask questions about the material she hadn’t understood from the reading the night before. But for some reason, even if the girl did say ‘yes, right this second’, Lia would still find herself agreeing to it which was something completely out of the ordinary for Tahlia.

She could tell that she was talking too much she forced herself to slow down, "Maybe someday you will. she said as she reigned in her more manic state and exhaled slowly. Her countenance was more serine as she worked on letting herself run at a more human pace. The girl was overwhelmed and she knew she had to be more human.
She paused and waited while Tahlia caught up. She was a tricky one to read, there was something about her, "I was thinking maybe one evening this week or next. I'm not sure what your schedule is like. Don't worry, I wouldn't be THAT impulsive. It wouldn't be polite." she said as she smoothed her dress and waited for Talia to feel more comfortable and relax. She was tense and Ariel didn't want that.
"I'm sorry for chattering so much. I just get nervous and my medications sometimes make me babble." There was no point in hiding her mental illness, people of this time only locked you up if you showed them a reason to. Ariel never gave them that reason but if claiming her illness made her a little more socially acceptable then so be it. She'd roll with it. It actually got her more victims because bullies tried to pick on her and met with tragic deaths and accidents. WORDS: 358 TAGGED: Tag someone OUTFIT: Link Here NOTES: Any words? Tahlia smiled brushing her long red hair out of her face. ”Yeah, maybe,” she said more catering to this girl’s own illusion of love instead of her own understanding of it. Even though this girl seemed so sure about this Trenton guy, Lia had a hard time appreciating it. So young, and yet so absorbed in someone already. Why did people let themselves get to that point when there was so much else in the world to focus on that was probably much better for you in the long run anyway. But she didn’t go any further with it. As love struck as Ariel seemed to be, Lia knew it would be a battle she would not win.
The girl had grown quiet, and Tahlia figured that her attempt at concealing her overwhelm for Ariel’s constant talking had not worked out so well. She watched as Ariel smoothed her very loud dress and explained to Lia that she wouldn’t be THAT impulsive to just randomly decide to go shopping right this second. The girl took into account Lia’s schedule which surprised Lia greatly. Not that Lia meant to be judgmental at first with Ariel, but the girl DID seem impulsive, the type that just decided something right away without thinking it through. Clearly Tahlia had been wrong with her assumption. ”Oh, well we could always exchange numbers? We could get together another time. My schedule is usually pretty booked solid, but I’m sure we can find a good time for the both of us.”
The girl apologized for her chattiness, and Tahlia immediately felt bad for making this girl feel like she had to apologize. The girl was outgoing, social, and seemed very happy with the life she was living at the moment. In the scheme of things, none of those characteristics were at all bad to have. In fact, some of them, Tahlia deep down found herself wishing she had. If she did, maybe she’d have more friends than just Jericho and a small handful. And then the girl had continued to explain why she was talking so much. Medications? Tahlia thought. It was an immediate curiosity for Tahlia. It was strange how that worked. Most of the time, it was like a complete switch. One minute she felt one way about someone and then she would find something out about them and feel a completely different way about them. In this case though, Tahlia already had a unique curiosity for the girl. Now the interest had simply built on top of the interest that was already accumulating. ”Oh medications? Is everything alright?” It was a bold thing to say. But if the girl didn’t want to talk about the medications, she probably wouldn’t have mentioned them. And besides, Tahlia wanted to know!

Pulling out a key chain with a heart on it she opened the golden piece of jewelry to reveal Trenton's picture "This is Trent. I've known him forever. He helps me remember to take my medication." she said softly with a puppy love look on her face. Once Talia hand seen the picture she returned the key ring to her purse
She paused and waited while Tahlia caught up. She was a tricky one to read, there was something about her, "Ok. That would be nice." She dug in her purse and pulled out an iPhone with a red case. Inscribed on the case were the initials AMM. Pushing a few buttons she opened a contact and handed Tahlia the phone to add her information.
"I just have problems. Trent says I have to be careful and take my medicine so I don't have to go to the hospital. The voice in my head isn't very nice. But you're nice to me so I'll always make sure to be good around you." she promised the redhead as she looked at her with a happy smile, "You don't have to worry. Its only if people try to hurt me that the voice gets bad, but Trent makes sure I'm safe so it will be okay."
She bit her lip shyly and looked up at her, "I hope I don't scare you. I don't want to do that. If you don't want to be my friend I understand. I don't have a lot of friends." she said softly admitting something to Tahlia she wouldn't admit to anyone else. WORDS: 358 TAGGED: Tag someone OUTFIT: Link Here NOTES: Any words? Ariel pulled out something golden and moved it towards Tahlia. Tahlia instinctively leaned in to look at the item in the girl’s hands. It was a picture of a dark haired man who looked to be about Tahlia’s age, even a bit older possibly. He was very attractive, and at first Tahlia thought that maybe he was her older brother or something, but when she realized the man was actually this Trenton guy that Ariel kept mentioning, Tahlia was speechless. She just watched as those lovey dovey puppy dog eyes came back into focus again. Oh brother, Tahlia thought. But the girl returned the key chain to her purse and pulled out her phone so that Tahlia could put her contact information into it. Tahlia took the phone and listened to Ariel as she began to answer Tahlia’s previous question about the medications.
She had already typed in her information on the iphone and handed it back to Ariel when Ariel started to talk about the voices in her head. Voices in someone’s head weren’t all that bad. Sometimes Tahlia would imagine that she heard someone calling her name. Or hell, she would even talk to herself on occasion when she was trying to work through something. But when Ariel started talking about how this ‘voice’ could tell her bad things sometimes, it was enough to scare just about anyone including Tahlia. And this Trent person! What was his deal! Was he even real? Or was he some sort of illusion the young girl had created to help her get through her obvious issues with these bad voices. For a few seconds, Tahlia had wished that she hadn’t given the girl her information. She could be some sort of silent killer who attempted to keep out those bad thoughts but would snap randomly.
As if the girl could sense Lia’s fear, Ariel called her out on it hoping that Tahlia hadn’t been scared of the knowledge of her new friend. And then there it was. The guilt. And it hit Tahlia like a bag of bricks. “I don’t have a lot of friends,” the girl had said and immediately Tahlia was able to connect even after all that she had just discovered. Tahlia had no friends either, and even though she continued to tell herself that it had been her own choice, that wasn’t the whole truth. Tahlia had been so caught up with the life that she was supposed to live, that she had forgotten how to live the life that deep down she wanted to live. A life full of friends, fun memories, and possibilities outside of what her parents wanted for her.
Tahlia gave the girl a soft smile. ”Everyone has issues, Ariel.” She reached out patting the girl’s shoulder. ”I don’t have any friends either, so maybe we can have no friends together?” Tahlia hated that she always felt the need to help people. It bugged her. She was always stressed about school, and she had absolutely no time to do anything but focus on school, yet she always seemed to find time to try and ‘save’ people. And at this moment, Ariel was one of those people.

Shrugging her shoulders she tossed her hair, "I'm okay now. I had a panic attack when a guy came up behind me and tried to grab me the other day. Trent took me home though and I'm okay." she said gently as she folded her hands in front of her. It wasn't the truth but it was what she could say.
At the thought of being Tahlia's friend she beamed, "I'd like that, Tahlia. I just have Trent really. Most people run away when they find out I'm sick." It really was easy to fill in the blanks of her life. She didn't have to lie. She just had to omit the maiming and killing. She didn't know if the girl would still be her friend tomorrow but at least she kept to her story.
She brushed her hair out of her eyes and relaxed as it seemed like Tahlia would believe her. She shifted her bags. They were full of books she'd already read. She had no desire to read them again. She wanted to go home and curl up with Trent while he read to her while they drunk glasses of blood from one of their victims. It was cozy for her. As cozy as the screams that their victims uttered before they died. She smiled warmly and relaxed gently as she stood there. She was content to lapse into silence. She even managed to stop swaying and look normal.

Tahlia could never see herself being a psychiatrist or a therapist of any kind. She didn’t have the social patience for that. But she did enjoy the field as it always supplied the knowledge and intrigue of the crazed mind. And when Ariel talked about a guy grabbing her and Trenton stepping in to help her out, Tahlia couldn’t help but use that analytical mind of hers and take the place of a psychology researcher wondering if Ariel had killed the guy that had grabbed and pushing the incident onto a panic attack and this Trenton character. A killer? Really Lia?” She couldn’t believe she was letting her mind wander like this. Clearly this girl was not a psycho killer. She was too adorable and innocent looking for something like that.
Tahlia smiled with a shrug. ”Well, I’m not running. I’m at the school every Tuesday afternoon anyway for tutoring. If you are usually waiting for….Trenton, then I’m sure I will see you around.” Tahlia would have offered to drive the girl to wherever she needed to go instead of having her wait for an invisible Trenton, as Tahlia still wasn’t sure if he even existed, but she didn’t want to scare the girl or overstep her bounds. These days one couldn’t be too careful when trusting strangers. And Ariel being a high schooler, she was sure that her mother had told her to beware of strangers. ”You should give me a call or something when you feel like getting together.” She said with a smile. ”Well, I should probably head out. My pounds upon pounds of homework are waiting for me.” She laughed softly. ”See you around?” She asked backing up to walk away. But how long would Ariel really have to wait for her ride? Would it be that horrible for Tahlia to at least offer? Oh crap Tahlia. She hesitated for just a few moments before deciding to stop walking away. ”Are you sure you want to wait? I’m sure your place isn’t too far from the school right? I could drive you home just as easy as Trenton could.”

Ariel waited quietly while the girl seemed to pause in her reactions, as if she was thinking and debating her options. Ariel could respect that. It meant she was smart, "Well that's good. Yeah I usually wait here for him. He's going to be calling any minute actually." she added as she glanced at the phone.
"I will!" she said with a happy bounce at the suggestion she call, "But not after ten because people need their sleep." she promised as she looked at her and beamed happily. She was glad she didn't need to coax her into behaving. Humans were so boring when she had to do that.
Looking at her as she offered a ride, Ariel shook her head, "No need." she said reassuringly as she showed Tahlia that her phone was ringing and Trent's name and picture had come up. "I've got to go. Have a safe drive home!" she called as she gracefully made her way out of the school. "Coming, Trent! Can we go to the movies? I heard there was this really good one about witches?" she asked him as she left, his reply too far away to be heard, "Yeah I say we should go out for a bite to eat. I'm in the mood for Italian."
